The purpose of these pages is twofold: to bring to the attention of people in the Minehead area the facilities offered by Townsend House, and to tell the history of a house which stands in the middle of our town and of which many people are almost completely unaware! We hope you find it interesting and look forward to seeing you at Townsend House soon. UPDATES 2015 will see the, at present faded, exterior of the house redecorated to a pristine white commencing in the spring. Prominently positioned at the entrance to the town centre it is important that Townsend House looks at its best......ALSO A commemorative plaque has been placed by the front door, by the Conservation Society, and gives the curious, passing pedestrian a brief but succinct history of the house......AND A legacy of £130 from the estate of Margaret Poynton, a keen founder member and supporter of the house, will be used to purchase new planting for the delightful garden.........BUT The management committee are looking for new members and would particularly welcome someone to act as a minute secretary AND FINALLY The newly introduced WiFi access is proving to be popular by users of the house.
